They say that breakfast is perhaps the most important meal of the day because it can give you a great start and boost energy levels. However, many of us stick to high-carb sugary cereals or fatty foods that are simply not that great for us, especially if we’re worried about burning fat. Throughout my many years of experience, I’ve worked together with many Body Transformation clients that have all had trouble picking the right foods to eat in the morning. To make it easier for you, I’ve put together a list of 10 healthy breakfast items that will help you lose weight. ProteinToning your muscles requires plenty of protein, so here are some of the best protein options that you can choose for a morning meal. All-natural peanut butter Processed peanut butter is filled with sugar and oils that don’t do you any good. Natural peanut butter has two simple ingredients: peanuts and salt. That’s all you need to create natural peanut butter that tastes absolutely amazing and is healthy for you. Try it with high protein bread! Eggs Eggs are a great source of protein and they can be cooked in a variety of different ways, but they’ll still retain their protein value to help you get a healthy start to your day. If you’re worried about cholesterol (which you shouldn’t unless you eat more than 3 eggs a day), ditch the yolk and go for an egg-white omelette or the hard-boiled version. Fruits and VegetablesWe can’t forget fruits and vegetables in our diet, so here are a couple of suggestions to include with your next morning meal. Health professionals recommend at least five fist size portions a day. However recent studies suggest 10 portions would be preferable. Focus on green vegetables first for fat loss and fill the gaps with fruit. Apples Simple, sweet and keeps the dentist away. Apples can be served with oatmeal if you want to spice up your carbs, but you can also eat them as snacks throughout the day for nutrition. Broccoli Broccoli contains some wonderful nutrients that are otherwise hard to consume. Broccoli can often be served with scrambled eggs or you could even make a broccoli soup the night before and serve it in the morning for breakfast. CarbsLet’s not forget that carbs are great at giving you the energy you need to last the day without falling asleep. Especially if you work out in the morning on an empty stomach, you should include quality carbs in your post-workout breakfast. There are plenty of sources of carbs, but it’s important to pick “good” carbs such as these two suggestions. Steer away from sugary cereal. Crispy brown rice Mixed with a bit of milk, these whole-grain crispy puffs are delicious, easy to digest can provide you with plenty of energy. They’ll make sure that you’re satisfied until lunchtime and they’re super cheap and easy to prepare. Plain oatmeal Carbs have a reputation for being cheap and wholesome, and that’s why oatmeal is on this list. Just plain oatmeal with a few slices of fruit and almond milk will give you a nutrient-packed start to the day. Toppings and SpicesSpice up your food with these topping and spice suggestions that you’ll just love to add to your breakfast. Black pepper A common seasoning used in many different dishes, black pepper has a unique heat feel to it and can even be used to treat health conditions. For us, it’s all about the way it helps us shed fat, reduce our waist size and keep our cholesterol levels in check. Sprinkle it over a hard boiled egg with a little olive oil and sea salt. Delicious. Flaxseeds A handful of flaxseeds can be added to almost anything. They’re filled with omega-3 fatty acid which can reduce the chance of you developing a cardiovascular disease. They add texture to foods like oatmeal, yoghurt and can even be spread on salads. Low-Calorie DrinksLet’s not forget that your drink can also contain lots of calories. If you’re used to drinking milkshakes or sugar-loaded coffee, then here are a few suggestions to keep your weight in check.
Plain coffee With no milk and no sugar, plain coffee can still taste amazing and be fantastic for your body. Next time you’re thinking of adding a splash of cream and some sugar cubes, skip them—your body will thank you. Choose quality beans and enjoy the flavour orgasm. Spa water Water is boring, so why not infuse it with things like fresh lemon, cucumber and grapefruit. The infusion comes packed with flavour and, assuming you don’t add anything extra, it’s a fantastic clean drink that will make your mornings a little more interesting.
